Commanding Officer of Baker Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment during the Korean War near the Naktong River, 1950. His radio man had informed him his batteries had just expired, and that was his much needed resupply was not coming. At the outbreak of the war, the 195 men of Baker Company found themselves plunged on the frontlines of the Pusan perimeter, holding off against an onslaught of North Korean attacks. Desperately short of food, ammunition, and supplies, Fenton petitioned battalion headquarters for relieve. He was told something along the lines of “hold the line, at all costs” as his radio died.
